Man S Best Friend
Man S Best Friend Now I am not an advocate of revenge, but I can appreciate a cleverly designed retaliation. When you first moved to our neighborhood, my husband and I observed a large dog, not unlike ol 'Yellen, climb into our neighbors yard across the street. We proceeded to evacuate his bowels efficient, and proud to go back where he came from. In general, this is nothing to write home, but this continued day after day after day. This led us to believe that the dog was trained to do so. If so, why and how? Well now, really do not know, will be forced to endure my vivid imagination. Our neighbor on the street is a doctor, so a picture of hemorrhoids operation failed, followed by a little 'and have been a solution. Not satisfied, our land of its victim revenge. As for the ever faithful family pet, which allows him months - years, perhaps. Under the dark of night, the plants doggie dog comes home the house of the doc, until finally the climax of this ingenious revenge. To this day, twenty-four hours of this loyal dog does his business and goes out. If you ask me, the doctor has the last laugh ... Your roses look fantastic! Man S Best Friend Question: If a dog is man's best friend and diamonds are a girl's best friend, that sex is Dumber? Being male persuasion, I lean toward canines and then appreciate the origin of the exalted title given to them.It all started in Warrensburg, Missouri, in 1869, when a dog named Old Drum was killed by Dick Ferguson per Leonidas Hosby, a sheep farmer.Hosby had lost more than sheep and dogs indicated that they fired the next dog who came into his property. That dog was Old Drum, a valuable dog known throughout Johnson County, for his big nose and hunting prowess.Old drum is owned by Charles Burden, Hosby's brother and neighbor. Loading demanded compensation for the loss of their animal nature. Hosby refused, arguing that it was justified to protect their valuable sheep.Burden was a local justice of the peace that we seek to appeal. He was informed that the maximum compensation allowed for a dog is $ 50 - about $ 200 in cash today. Filed suit against Hosby for that much load in Court. There Common Pleas was not animosity between the two men - before or after a series of subsequent legal action. However, the two men in a costly battle to defend their rights. At trial, the court in favor of Hosby. Uploading a resource lost, and appealed again. Finally case reached the Circuit Court jury member for the phrase Warrensburg 23 September 1870. Two prominent attoeys - known for his persuasive skills - Hosby.Col represented. Wells Blodgett and his partner, local lawyers, but was represented Loading pessimistic about their chances against the defending high-powered team that has prevailed in the other tests. . By chance that day, Vest was in court in another legal matter. He was elected to the House of Representatives from Missouri, but moved south to join the federal govement during the Civil War aka War between the States. After the war, is back in defense and Vest was recognized as a orator.Burden consumed Vest implored them to come on board as special adviser to two other lawyers.Vest, owner of a dog, okay. It is said that it was committed "to apologize to all the dogs in Missouri" if not meant Drum.Blodgett Viejo spoke first. Then the two defense attoeys said it was "ridiculous to make this kind of noise from a dog of small value." The jury seemed impressed with all the arguments, or con.Ignoring pay to the plaintiff and defense witness , opened his jacket very spontaneous remarks to the jury. It is composed of men who probably had also seen hunting dogs. * * * "Gentlemen of the jury, the best friend a man has become the world against him and become his enemy. Your son or daughter who grew up with loving care may prove ungrateful. "Those who are near and dear to us, that we trust our happiness and our good name, may become traitors to their faith. "The money that a man can lose. N. flies away from him, perhaps, when you need it most. A man's reputation may be sacrificed in a moment of ill-considered action. "Those who are prone to fall on their knees to honor the success of us is with us, be the first to throw the stone of malice when failure sets its cloud above our heads." The one absolutely unselfish friend that man can have in this selfish world, the one that never deserts him, the one that is never ungrateful or treacherous is his dog. "A man of the dog keeps him in prosperity and poverty in health and disease. He sleep on the ground where the cold winter winds blow and the snow drives fiercely, if only you can be near his master's side. "He will kiss the hand that has no food to offer, but will lick the wounds and sores that come in an encounter with the roughness of the world. guards the sleep of his poor teacher like royalty. "When all other friends desert, yet. When riches take wings and reputation falls to pieces, is constant in his love as the sun in its jouey through the heavens. "If fortune drives the master defines a pariah in the world, friends and the homeless, the faithful dog asks no higher privilege than that of accompanying him, to protect against danger, to fight against their enemies. "And when the last scene of all comes, and death takes the master in its embrace and his body is placed outside in the cold ground, no matter if all other friends pursue their way there, the tomb of the noble dog be found, his head between his paws, his eyes sad but open in alert monitoring, true and faithful until death. "* * * Thomas Crittenden, lead attoey for Hosby and then goveor of Missouri, recalled the scene in the classroom. "Vest seems to remember the history of all cases where dogs had displayed intelligence and fidelity to man. He quoted more lines of poetry about dogs who had allegedly been written. "The ceiling for the monument that was built with a quote from the Bible about the dog that soothe the wounds of the beggar Lazarus as he faced Saturday in a rich man. "It was like a perfect piece of oratory was heard from pulpit or bar. Court, jury, lawyers and public input. I looked and saw that the jury had found all in tears. The foreman wept as he had lost his dear friend. "I told my companion and Hosby best to leave the court or hanged." The jury retued a unanimous verdict and recommended $ 550 for damages. When the judge raised his ingenuity, which has reduced the sentence to the limit of $ 50. Hosby appealed the verdict of the Supreme Court of Missouri, but it was Vest denied. It the "Tribute to the Old Drum", which was the proverb, "Man's best friend is his dog. 'It is propelled Senator Vest United States, the applicant fours for immortality and the City of Warrensburg to a national Sunday shrine.Lindsey Williams is a columnist who can be contacted at: LinWms@earthlink.netLinWms @ lindseywilliams.orgWebsite With several hundred of Lin Editorial great and articles written by more than 40 years. Also presented in its entirety is Lin's revolutionary book, "Looking to the future with courage," that critically analyzes and develops theories about the original Spanish explorers of America.
