The use of supplements and correct physical security can help their pets get a better
The use of supplements and correct physical security can help their pets get a better Approximately 7 years ago I started using natural therapies in my practice as I became more integrated into a physician. Practice in Texas I saw many animals do not actually allergic? Unable to improve the traditional drug therapy. By incorporating natural therapies in my treatment regimen, which immediately began to see incredible results! Besides the great results that we see regularly in natural therapies with my patients, one of the things that attracted me to this type of care for companion animals is the relative lack of side effects. What? S rare to see any adverse effects on the use of extra care of my patients. However,? S has been reported in human medicine that the side effects of drugs is a major cause of illness and death in people (I? I am sure that the unreported statistics are similar in veterinary medicine!) While many animal owners think "natural" , is equal to "safe", this is not always true. There are certain supplements (like ephedra), which can be extremely toxic and even fatal, if not used correctly. This article explored some of the most commonly used supplements and side effects that may occur. As always, the best way to integrate natural therapies into your pet? S treatment regimen is appropriate to do so under the supervision of a veterinarian, as this will also decrease the possibility of side effects. "Natural" does not mean "safe" Most supplements are safer than other drugs for long-term control of medical problemsExamples: NSAIDs vs common supplements, anticonvulsants or hill vs Anipryl, fatty acids and antioxidants against corticosteroids Oliva leaf extract antibiotics.Sometimes vs drugs are safer than conventional supplementsExample: coventional deworming medication vs wormwood / black walnut / mint oil.Ex.decongestants / bronchodilators vs ephedra.Sometimes species differences are potentially toxic natural therapies: Tea tree oil / oil volatile / white willow bark with cats and small dogs.Natural therapy may show interactions with conventional medicines that may toxic.Examples: white willow bark with NSAIDs, ephedra with cardiac drugs, decongestants, asthma medications and drugs, ginkgo biloba, with high doses Fish oil.In following articles, I? ll review some of the most commonly used supplements.Shawn Messonnier, DVMAuthor, 8 weeks to a healthy dog, The Allergy Solution for Dogs, and the award-winning The Natural Health Bible for Dogs and Cats. Dr. Shawn is the medical consultant for Pet meetings, a pet supplement company.
